Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh was born in Zundert, Netherlands on 30 March, 1853. He was well-known for his works rough beauty, emotinoal honesty, and bold colour. Van Gogh's love for art began in his childhood, and he continued to draw throughout his life. In the his late twenties through his death at age 37, Van Gogh created more than 2, 100 pieces, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1, 300 watercolours, drawings, sketches, and prints. His work had mostly consisted of self protraits, landscapes, still life flowers, portraits, and paintings of wheat fields and sunflowers. He's most notable for cutting a part of his ear off (presumably the lobe) and giving it to a woman named Rachel in an envelope including the words, "Guard this object carefully."
